ARCHITECTURAL SKYLIGHT AND BUILT IN PANES
Custom stained glass can be used to turn an architectural decorating problem into a decor enhancement.
We had an old shaft (circa 1876) with a rooftop vent, which came through the center of the house and landed in the 3rd floor bathroom. After ignoring it for many years, my husband suggested using stained glass to dress it up.
I came up with a design (which I later found out was frequently used in quilts) which worked perfectly, Stained Glass Ohio Star Quilt Pattern. He constructed a frame that would hold four panels—that can be removed and cleaned easily with a tall ladder.
The blue, yellow, and green pane windows are built for a a house in upstate New York as a house warming gift, when the owner decided they wanted to create a more private space.
The last one - a take off on the Celtic design is in a farmhouse in Rhode Island where the owner wanted to allow light from the west into an interior room.
